Discover: How The Gospel Changes Everything
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13)
“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit with be with you all” (2 Corinthians 3:14)
A few months ago, I shared a collection of sermons called “Begin,” intended to help you begin a hopeful journey exploring the greatest story ever told. "Discover" is another collection of my sermons (complete with video, podcast, discussion guides, and transcripts) designed to welcome you to a brand new world where the gospel changes everything. “Discover” offers lessons on a new reality, a new identity, a new community, and a new way of life. The page is almost complete. The final section (“A New Way of Life”) will be a series on the Sermon on the Mount, which will be preached and added this fall. I encourage you to visit the page often for more. May you be blessed with the overwhelming peace and inexpressible joy that only Christ can give.

Upcoming: One Sermon That Changed The World (13-week series on Sermon on the Mount). [My current series, “The Church Before the Watching World,” also addresses a new way of life; this series, however, will appear later on the “Serve” webpage, focused on how to share the story of Jesus.]
These lessons appear on my “Discover” webpage and consist of sermons preached at the West Side Church of Christ (Searcy, AR). Video, podcast, discussion guides, and transcripts are available. These lessons also appear on the Life on the West Side podcast. Available on all podcast platforms.
Christ, Culture & Kingdom
How is our witness? On one hand, we find that far too much of the world is creeping into the church; when this happens, we lose our distinctive flavor and quickly lose our witness. On the other hand, we find that the church carries far too little of God’s kingdom vision into the world; when this fails to happen, we lose our opportunity to offer a new way of seeing, and thus lose our witness.
Join us at West Side for a 4-part series as we confront the gods of money, sex and power (or materialism, sexual anarchy, and power-thirsty political maneuvering) as they affect our witness. In their place, we will affirm the power of salt, light, and sweet aroma, filling the world with an alternative vision of a kingdom the likes of which many in the world (and some in the church) have never seen.
(July 23) Naming the Gods: Keeping the Church Free From Idols
(July 30) Not of This World: Representing A Kingdom That Is Out of This World
(Aug 6) Faithful Presence: Providing A Third Way Beyond The Culture Wars
(Aug 13) Salt, Light & Sweet Aroma: Making A First & Lasting Impression
Stream our lessons Sunday at 9 AM (CST) on facebook or YouTube. If you are in the middle Arkansas area, we would love to have you join us in person. I’ll save a seat for you.
